Mack Events
One year on, and we’re back in Barry with Mack Events for their annual GlastonBARRY festival. Originally launched in 2013 at Romilly Park in Barry, Wales, the festival has become a staple of local summertime and we were thrilled to collaborate with them for another year.
Another Successful Year for Mack Events
Of course, festivals are mainly about the music, but refreshments are just as vital. Maintaining cold refreshment storage throughout the three-day festival is a massive logistical process, something they entrusted to the Dawsongroup tcs team last year.
Before this, Mack Events relied on more traditional refrigeration solutions, but, with many of them operating 6 feet off the ground, moving products, such as beer kegs, was dangerous. However, an innovative design by tectoniks, a subsidiary of Dawsongroup tcs, offered an inflatable cold room as an alternative. This solution sits at ground level, making for a safe and efficient way of working. There was simply no looking back with these top-of-the-range energy solutions…
With a hot summer forecast this year, Mack Events faced challenges on two fronts. Their cold storage needed to work harder to maintain a consistent temperature and customer demand increased, meaning that more drinks were flowing. They needed a flexible, reliable solution with quick access. This was nothing that the award-winning Temp°store couldn’t handle. Its reliable temperature control can be set anywhere from +18˚C – 18˚C, easily keeping the refreshments cool and its wide doors could easily be accessed both on foot and on forklifts!
“It’s a big thing to get a trusted supplier,” said Ashley Griffiths, Operations Supervisor for Mack Events. “I like to make sure things are as efficient as possible, and with Dawsongroup, there’s no need to find any other solution.”
A Cool Change to the Festival
The weather wasn’t the only problem Mack Events encountered this year. Their Big Top tent was an extra 15m longer and 13m wider than the one used last year. This major orientation change moved the bar to be perpendicular to the tent, requiring flexible cold storage to maintain their refreshments.
However, the triple Temp°store 26 and the Temp°store 10 were up to the challenge, especially due to their pop-up abilities. Their unique inflatable design can be easily transported to wherever they’re needed, and set up within a matter of hours, making them the ideal solution for difficult spaces. For Mack Events, this enabled them to construct their cold storage right behind the bar, limiting the distance between storage and serving.

“Chris Allen came down himself to solve a problem we had last year,” said Ashley. “That’s another one of the many reasons why we worked with Dawsongroup again; we knew we could rely on them. They make sure it’s a two-way street, making it as easy as possible to work with.”
An Environmental Choice
Another benefit of the pop-up design is the environmental consideration. The environmental impact of festivals is a big discussion right now, with the damage these events cause being highlighted. Dawsongroup tcs is committed to limiting the impact, with careful, conscious design.
Every aspect of the Temp°store has been carefully considered, ensuring that it leaves nothing but good memories behind. The state-of-the-art flooring does more than help keep the cold in; it also protects the ground beneath the Temp°store, avoiding damage to the area. When deflated, the Temp°store can fit into a single trailer, which is both safe and easy to transport. Additionally, once the event is over, the Temp°store can be off-hired and re-used elsewhere.
Future Plans for Events
GlastonBARRY is about more than just the music, Mack Events was founded to bring the local community together and make Barry a better place. This positive outreach is reaping great rewards as Mack Events is growing year on year with GlastonBARRY attendance only increasing. Their long-term goal is to make the events’ logistics run as efficiently as possible, prioritising customer experience and smooth operations.

As the event continues to grow and develop, one thing will remain constant: the Temp°store. Mack Events have already requested that we work with them for GlastonBARRY 2025 – that’s a third year running! Ashley told us how amazing it is to work with good companies, as everyone at Dawsongroup is great, giving them much confidence in the solutions provided.
“It just seems to work,” said Ashley. “Some products you bring in that could have a better solution, but with this product, it is the end of thinking about it. It’s easy and it is reliable; everything we need.”
