“I started with the company after seeing a modern apprenticeship advertised with my local college for an apprentice refrigeration engineer back in 2001. I immediately wanted to apply for the role because being paid to learn a trade was the perfect next step for me after leaving school. After joining I immediately felt part of a team and remember each and every one of the people who have helped me to progress within the company over the years. What I loved about the company straight away is the way you are made to feel part of the team instantly.
I think something that sets the company apart is the opportunities to progress that are available, the training courses we are able to attend and the general one team culture.
As the years have passed and I have changed roles within my time, I have always been determined to give other people the same chance I was given on joining the company and am very proud of the achievements all the other apprentices have made since we have taken them on in various roles. This year we will be taking on more apprentices than ever and I think this shows what a great place TCS is learn and develop.”
“Having recently joined DGTCS, I’m looking forward to being an integral part of the local Management Team, working with the wider Dawson Group SHE Team and with maintaining our safety and environmental compliance whilst further developing the safety culture within the businesses”
“I arrived at TCS as a Product Support Engineer, specialising in Fluid Chillers. After a short spell in this role, I was offered an office based position as Project Engineer within the then Refrigeration Department, then Senior Project Engineer, and onto my current role of Technical Manager. So TCS is where my engineering skills are best utilised. I have enjoyed, and still enjoy my current role as it allows me to innovate, and in doing so, I have impacted the whole rental fleet with reference to design, performance, utilisation and also customer/sales support. I doubt I would get that scale of opportunity elsewhere. I also enjoy the immense job security Dawsongroup offers, along with many other staff benefits, enhanced holidays, flu vaccination, birthday holiday etc.
My main achievements have been bringing innovation to fruition, such as the newer blasts designs, ATEX rooms, Clean rooms, Spiral freezer etc. Thus further enhancing Dawsongroup’s portfolio.”
“Having retired from the Military after 23 years’ service, I pursued a second career with new and very different challenges. I joined Dawsongroup TCS in 2017 and looking back I’m pleased to say I found that in relatively short order my role has evolved. From in depth learning how the company provide a variety of compliant industry leading solutions to the Pharmaceutical sector and becoming the subject matter expert, to more recently taking on the demands of Quality Manager and nurturing a culture of continuous improvement.
The stand-out points with the company for me are the strong team ethos, willingness to innovate, commitment to achieving the highest levels of customer satisfaction and a healthy ‘can do’ approach”
“Dawsongroup will not allow the business to standstill, they continue to make sound investments in the business infrastructure, people and products to ensure the long-term future of the business. Offering training and personnel development throughout the business.”
Service Manager Daniel Poismans receives his 20 year service award from Managing Director Rod Benham becoming the 15th current employee to reach that milestone. Danny joined as an Apprentice Refrigeration Engineer while still 16 year old, qualifying a Refrigeration Engineer before becoming the Refrigeration Bay Supervisor in 2010. In 2016 he made the move into the Office running the Service Desk and now at the age of 36 is a key member of the Senior Management Team with responsibility for the Fleet Desk, Projects & Service.
Managing Director Rod Benham commented “As a business we always give employees the opportunity to progress and while we have always done well with our Electrical & Refrigeration Apprentices, not just the high retention rate post qualification but we have three others in our Service or Technical teams who are still young but already with a combined service of 40 years. However, one thing Danny should be very proud of is his introduction of office based apprentices particularly as one of his first batch is about to take her first managerial role, Customer Operations Manager Dawsongroup Process & Climate Control, as she approaches her 21st birthday”.
Danny commented “I am very proud of my achievements in my first 20 years with the business. I have seen and been part of a lot of changes over the years, experienced various roles and am very grateful for the opportunities that have been presented to me. Dawsongroup today is so much more different to the one I joined 20 years ago and it is very clear that employees have a great opportunity to progress within the business and that the company will invest in its people. My aim is to help the next generation of DGTCS employees develop and we have made a great start with our current bunch of apprentices and trainees”.
